Manchester School District Extended Learning Opportunities

The ELO (Extended Learning Opportunity) Program in the Manchester School District provides opportunities for students to explore and receive credit for extended learning activities outside the traditional classroom, including, but not limited to internships, community service, independent study, private instruction, work-based learning, and various other activities.

The granting of credit shall be based on a student’s demonstration of course competencies, as approved by certified personnel. Throughout their ELO, students will reflect on their learning process, personal goals, acquisition of skills, and work ethic.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Take an active part in the development of the study plan (in an Individual ELO).

  • Meet with the ELO coordinator, teacher, and community partner to go over the plan (in an individual ELO).

  • Complete and sign all paperwork required.

  • Learn about and abide by all policies and procedures set by the ELO Program and its community partner sites.

  • Dress and behave appropriately for your community site.

  • Communicate any issues or concerns as soon as possible to your ELO Coordinator.

  • Attend all meetings and be on time.

  • Contact your community member and cooperating teacher in the event of anticipated absence or tardiness before the scheduled appointment.

  • Maintain weekly contact with all parties.

  • Complete all components of the plan including a final project.
